About Micah Guenther

Micah Guenther Self taught, I have gleaned techniques and ideas from art books and magazines. Prefering a palette knife to a brush, I employ the splatter techniques of Jackson Pollock, and ideas from other artists I admire. Some of which are very evident. I also really like the simplicity of my sumi ink works, done with sumi ink and a Japanese calligraphy brush. But, my preferred media is acrylic and enamels on canvas. I do occasionally work with oils, and just recently started working with water color and gouache. I attended culinary school in Dallas, Tx, then worked for a number of years as a chef in Dallas and then in Eureka Springs, Ar. There, in Arkansas, is where I really started to paint seriously. Though the sizes of my work varies, I really enjoy working on the bigger pieces. The biggest to date, is 54"x94". I also am a musician (drums) and played in a heavy metal band for a number of years and I also love to drag race. Currently I am racing a 1963 Chevy II wagon. And to round everything off, I study Karate. Shito-Ryu Gembu Kai. All together, they keep me young. Life is too short, get out and enjoy it.
