This piece, my biggest to date, is one of several in my on going Space-Continuum Series. This one, like all in the series takes on a deep, three diminsional feel when viewed from about ten to fifteen feet away. It gives me a very calming, dreamy feeling of euphoria.
Self taught, I have gleaned techniques and ideas from art books and magazines. Prefering a palette knife to a brush, I employ the splatter techniques of Jackson Pollock, and ideas from other artists I admire. Some of which are very evident. I also really like the simplicity of my sumi ink works, done with sumi ink and a Japanese calligraphy brush. But, my preferred media is acrylic and enamels on canvas. I do occasionally work with oils, and just recently started working with water color and gouache. I attended culinary school in Dallas, Tx, then worked for a number of years as a chef in Dallas and then in Eureka Springs, Ar. There, in Arkansas, is where I really started to paint seriously. Hi Micah, Fascinated by your combining acrylic and enamel. Image is dynamic. Lots of layers. Love the directional lines --f eels like shooting energy across the picture plane. Right now the large blue orb seems to be the main attraction but the red one really fights with it for attention just by its color and that it is the only red. Just wondering where you want the focus.
